COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A 16-year-old disabled girl was punched and forced to engage in videotaped sexual acts with several boys in a high school auditorium as dozens of students watched, according to witnesses.
Authorities are investigating and no charges have been filed in the alleged attack last month at Mifflin High School. Four boys suspected of involvement were sent home and have not returned to class.
Also, the principal, Regina Crenshaw, was suspended and will be fired for not calling police, school officials said. And three assistant principals were suspended and will be reassigned to other schools....
There is also more on this at the New York Times:
Excerpts:
The principal and her assistants not only failed to report the incident but also urged the girl's father to avoid calling the police out of concerns that reporters would become aware of the assault, according to statements given to school investigators.
{snip}
One of the three assistant principals, Richard Watson, said he had found the videotape and then viewed it with other administrators. Their conclusion, they told investigators, was that there had been no coercion.
{snip}
One witness's statement said a boy pulled the girl onto the auditorium stage, ordered her to be quiet, pushed her to her knees and forced her to perform oral sex on him.
"If you scream, I'll have all my boys punch you," the boy told her and then hit her in the face, causing her mouth to bleed, a student told the investigators.
The girl told a special-education teacher minutes after the incident that she had been forced to have oral sex with two boys behind a curtain on the stage while at least two others watched. She said the boys stopped only after someone arrived in the auditorium and scared them off.
The girl, who has a speech defect, "just kept saying she was scared," the special-education teacher told the investigators.
Please read it ALL!
THIS IS HORRIFIC!
It is devastating that this event even occurred, let alone how it was handled! If this girl had been a popular girl or the daughter of a an "important" figure- I would bet this would have been handled much differently! I am furious that the 3 Assistant Principles are to remain employed in positions where they are entrusted with the care of children. Their handling of this incident borders on criminal behavior in my opinion. Since when do you NOT report sexual abuse of a minor! I understand that teachers are required to report suspicion of such behavior- let alone direct accounts on their OWN PREMISES!

The girl's father also refrained from notifying the authorities. Should he also go to jail? Should his daughter be taken away?
If the principal goes to jail, so should the dad for the exact same offense.

Oh and needless to say, the boys are innocent til proven guilty. The asst. principals are saying the videotape failed to show any coercion during the sex act (so it sounds like the punching and threats were not captured on tape -- so that part is he-said, she-said by a bunch of teenagers).

Never mind the first point -- the dad did call the police.

Anon-- YOU NEED TO READ THE ARTICLE! THE FATHER DID CALL THE POLICE! RIGHT THERE AT THE SCHOOL! He walked into the hallway and called the police!
YOU ARE SICK! How on earth do you defend this I don't know
GO drink some kool-aid.
Tell me how this is not coerced when a teacher approached her noticing her mouth was bleeding from being PUNCHED IN THE FACE!
The school is playing CYA!

"Anonymous" is trolling for attention.
Most likely he/it is some pimple-faced fat kid with too much time on his/its hands and has "attention issues".

LOL Sherri I love how you managed to ignore the retraction I had made 6 minutes after posting the dad comment. You are being petty and disingenuous when you attack something I had already retracted.
The fact is, these are just allegations right now. You have already made up your mind about who did what, based on MSM reports.
Also I repeat that it sounds like none of the alleged coercion was caught on videotape. That would have been damning evidence -- a lot more so than one witness claiming he heard the threat.

LOL!
ANON
I love how you assume that my only source is MSM reports.
But please go back to sticking your head in the sand. Oh, before you go, I have to ask- DO YOU HAVE CHILDREN?
NO PARENT would find the fact that the school had REPORTS of such abuse and didn't bother to even call the parent for at least an hour, and then try and talk the parent out of calling the plice because they don't want media attention acceptable by any standards. THIS particular school has MANY problems.
I suggest you stay tuned- There is a LOT more to this story than you think. Too bad you don't have enough of a spine to leave a name-it would be so nice. Easy to attck when you don't have to face the music when you are wrong.
Must stink to be a coward.

This is a different anonymous from the previous idiot.
:::One of the three assistant principals, Richard Watson, said he had found the videotape and then viewed it with other administrators. Their conclusion, they told investigators, was that there had been no coercion.:::
This is disgusting. Sounds like some administrators into child pornography, to me. He found the video tape and *watched* it all with his buddies?
Think about this- even if it was true that there was no evidence of coercion (and I do not believe it)
this sort of behavior on school property by minor children alone ought to have warrented phone calls to all the parents- immediate phone calls.
Furthermore, if he knows (and he should) that one of the children is developmentally delayed & in special needs classes- then he also knows perfectly well that this is a case of the 'normal' kids taking advantage of the developmentally delayed child.
I can't believe these men are ever going to be allowed to work with children again.
And how did he 'find' the videotape?

This story is sickening. More and more the schools seem to be loosing control of our kids. I know that it is impossible to keep an eye on all of the kids all of the time but most of the time I have to wonder if the it's the teachers that have their heads in the sand.CBT2025

If the school administrators asked that parents not to call the police, then the principle deserves to lose her job. The other administrators don't deserve to keep their jobs either. They all should be fired because if the administrators watched the tape and decided to do nothing, even if there wasn's any coercion, they should have at least pretended to be concerned.CBT2025
