DCF: Prepared to Make Their Case

Florida Department of Children and Families attorneys were scheduled for a hearing with Judge Greer regarding an investigation of allegations against Michael Schiaveo for possible abuse, neglect and/or exploitation. When the hearing scheduled for 1:30 pm today began, DCF attorneys announced that were prepared to make their case. Attorney George Felos, representing Michael Schiavo, immediately objected. According to sources close to the case, Judge Greer cleared the courtroom save one camera.

As reported by The Tampa Tribune, ``The allegations in the abuse reports go the the heart of whether abuse, neglect and/or exploitation has been perpetrated by the guardian such that any relief afforded by this court to this guardian prior to the conclusion of such investigation would be tragically misplaced,'' wrote DCF Adult Protective Services supervisor Michael Will.

Even more disturbing is the stubborn arrogance of Judge George Greer. He has denied motions filed by Schindler attorney David Gibbs to overturn his ruling in 2000 due to he MISTAKENLY assumed that Karen Ann Quinlan died in the mid-1970s, when Karen had actually lived on for 9 years later than Greer had believed. This type of evidence of judicial error would constitute a new trial in criminal courts. The error lies in testimony by a friend of Terri’s that shared how upset Terri was with Karen’s family when they had decided to remove Karen from life support. Terri’s friend also shared a quote from Terri; “Where there is life, there is hope.”

Judge Greer also denied motions to allow Terri to receive any new medical testing or food and water by traditional means.

  • Sherri -- is the Florida Department likely to win? Clearly the judge looks for reasons to not rule for Terri. I would guess the state has the resources to quickly move the question to a higher and presumably more favorable court. You said the judge closed the court save "on camera." Does that mean TV was allowed in. A bit of latin here -- "in camera" hearings are hearings closed to the public, frequently held in the judge's chambers. Do you know which occurred?

Keep up your great work. I don't post as often as I read here, because most of what I have to say is: please keep up the flow of information and the surge of hope.

I really do need an editor...

It was supposed to be ONE camera.
    not on camera...

anyway- it was one media source aloud to stay with one camera...but- I am not sure if it was supposed to stay on for the whole thing-- anyway- Greer says nothing came out that isn't already in the public eye. (YEAH RIGHT! YOU MEAN THAT THE BLOGGERS know! The Meida is ignoring it- so it is NOT in the public eye because too amny morons are still getting their info from the MSM. I guess they like the "false but accurate" standard.

He released the transcript and is "deciding"- he will rule later ... ( on issuing hte 60 day stay so they can investigate.) My guess is that he is looking for ANY loophole he can find to override their investigation and kill her.... he just hasn't found one yet....
