Justice is Blind

It’s been reported that Judge Greer is legally blind and evidently he would like the entire world to be blind to the facts about Terri. Attorney Barbara Weller, an eyewitness to Terri’s shout for life, said Terry became very upset and started to cry. Weller said she, “...had a difficult time calming Terri down.” This was witnessed by several people and heard by others outside Terri’s room. This was not a whimper, it was a shout. Terri must be terrified.

I checked several medial references and “Crying upon hearing your feeding tube was going to be removed and trying desperately to vocalize a thought, actually getting a few words out” just wasn’t a definition I found anywhere for "persistent vegetative state." The only thing persistent about this is Greer, Felos and Michael saying Terri is in a "persistent vegetative state" and cannot currently express her wishes. It is obvious she is coherent, cognizant of her surroundings and that means her brain is active! She hears, talks and feels.

If not for the order from Greer disallowing all photo, video, recording devices, etc. (after several videos were made), we might have seen and heard the effort Terri made today. It seems Terri tries to communicate all the time and simply did it once again. But Greer and his posse are keeping this activity in the dark, trying to keep the world blind to this fact. We are not blind; we’ve seen her interact with loved ones.

Yet in instances like this one, where there are serious questions and substantial doubts, our society, our laws, and our courts should have a presumption in favor of life. Those who live at the mercy of others deserve our special care and concern. It should be our goal as a nation to build a culture of life, where all Americans are valued, welcomed, and protected - and that culture of life must extend to individuals with disabilities.”

Tom DeLay says, “Terri Schiavo will not be forsaken.”
