Vatican Condemns "Death Penalty"

According to a story published by NewsMax.com, the Vatican considers pulling the plug on Terri Schiavo akin to the death penalty.

"The Vatican pressed its campaign to keep Terri Schiavo alive Tuesday, saying that pulling the plug on the brain-damaged Florida woman amounted to capital punishment for someone who has committed no crimes.

In a front-page editorial, the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano criticized a U.S. federal judge's refusal to order the reinsertion of Schiavo's feeding tube."

  • Interesting how the Supreme Court is swayed by "international opinion" but a Florida judge isn't!

  • I would prefer our judicial system not be swayed by international opinion.

  • Agreed. In fact didn't won't of the dissenting SCOTUS judges even use the words "pick and choose" in his rebuttal against the majority decision in that case?

  • ** saying that pulling the plug on the brain-damaged Florida woman amounted to capital punishment for someone who has committed no crimes. **

so does this mean the Vatican is saying it's okay to kill someone when they have committed crimes?

so your pro-life agenda is only for non-criminals?

    LOL

  • The bible does allow for killing killers, right? What is the Vatican's stance on that? (I'd really like to know....suppose I can google it though)

  • Okay, that was a pretty easy search. The Vatican is against killing even killers.
