Terri speaks!

Updated Story!
According to Sherri's sources "Terri Schiavo speaks!"
When the Federal Marshal(s) appeared at the hospice to serve subpoenas, they were accompanied by local police. At the time of their arrival, Terri's parents were in her room with her. Bob and Mary Schindler had asked her twice, "Do you want to live?" Twice, she responded, "Yes". It was then, they were working with Terri to say, "I .. want .. to ..live!". On the word, "want", it was loud enough to draw the attention of the police who entered the room at that time.

This story is being reported now at Empire Journal:
TERRI SCHIAVO SAYS SHE WANTS TO LIVE!

Sherri called me while intransit to Florida on I-75, begging me to put this up, now. I have had several conversations with her since, more details are forthcoming!

Right Wing Nut Job

  • Why didn't Terri's sister mention this very dramatic development when she spoke to the press about the tube removal? What's going on? Didn't her sister know (wasn't she there)?

  • This from Peggy Noonan who has hit a giant BULLSEYE.

"The supporters of Terri Schiavo's right to continue living have fought for her heroically, through the courts and through the legislatures. They're still fighting. They really mean it. And they have memories. "

Political capital for the Republican party is dissapating at a faster rate than this woman's life will ever ebb away. You can take that to the bank. She can be revived, but this pathetic party with control in the house/senate/executive branch is running out of time to make a course correction. Can you say INDEPENDENT!

  • Republicans controlled the Senate in 2004, and despite their majority, they couldn't defend Bush's judicial nominees from being blocked by the Democrats...So what happened? Their majority increased to 55, and Bush was reelected.

So...since Terri Schiavo's feeding tube was removed by court order, the Republican base is certainly not going to respond by voting Republicans out of office for not being able to stop it. In fact, it is more likely the Republican base will be as charged as ever to increase the Republican majority in the Senate so that Bush can appoint more conservative leaning judges to the courts.

We need to get the judges like Greer out of the position of making decisions like this which don't reflect the laws of the people they're designed to protect.

That being said, Congress should not have gotten involved in this case. We shouldn't even be thinking about political consequences. This is not about politics.

  • Cao, you probably already know this, but Greer was a conservative Baptist Republican when he first got on the bench.

  • anon, as far as claims to be southern baptists, you must be aware that clinton and gore claimed the same affiliation. hardly much proof by their actions that they adhere to the tenants of their faith.
