Bob Schindler: She is fighting like hell to stay alive. And I want the powers that be to know that..."

Judge Greer has rejected the plea to start rehydrating Terri.

Bob Schindler: "Just in to see Terri...she's doing remarkably well under the circumstances...she's showing signs of starvation and lack of hydration. She is fighting like hell to stay alive. And I want the powers that be to know that....anybody that has the authority to come in and save Terri to do it...it's not too late......"

I have posted these questions three or four times now in the comments section of this blog. I have yet to receive an answer from any of you. So once again, I'm posting this in hopes that I can receive some kind of response.

You are SO INVOLVED in this matter ... so passionate about your beliefs .. yet ... there are millions of other injustices that go on every day in your own neighborhoods. Why are you not as passionate about those?

Beautiful Belgium Babe stated: We all believe strongly in the injustice of her situation, and get involved emotionally, for better or for worse.

    I responded:

Do you feel as strongly about the injustice of all the homeless children that are going to bed hungry tonight? Why aren't you moving heaven and earth for them?

Do you feel as strongly about the injustice of innocent people sitting on death row who have been, or are waiting to be, executed? Why aren't you moving heaven and earth for them?

Do you feel as strongly about the injustice of the millions of Americans who are sick today but because they don't have health insurance, they can't go to the doctor. Why aren't you moving heaven and earth for them?

Do you as strongly about the injustice of the millions of Americans who are out of work because the current Administration has caused such a wreck of our economy that company after company lay off workers? Why aren't you moving heaven and earth for them?

Do you feel as strongly about the injustice of the reservists and other inactive military personnel who have been called up to fight a war that should have never started and have lost their lives, leaving wives and children behind? Why aren't you moving heaven and earth for them?

Do you feel as strongly about injustice of the hundreds of Iraqi children who have been killed by the U.S. in this war and have been tagged "collateral damage?"

    Shall I go on?

  • Does Bob Schindler even know what he is talking about?

I read a few hours ago: "Terri is in her last hours."

Now he's saying, "Just in to see Terri...she's doing remarkably well under the circumstances..."

    Which is it?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:28 PM

  • “Terri is weakening. She’s down to her last hours. Something has to be done and has to be done quick,” said Bob Schindler, who visited his daughter Friday morning.

  • The Greer's of this world are an ingredient of a recipe that will allow the abuse of women to go on. Greer denied a restraining order once, and in doing so allowed a women to be stabbed to death. And now this..........

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:37 PM

  • You have chosen an issue that was not your "cause" to fight in the first place.

This started out as a private family matter.

There are hundreds of other causes out there that you could EFFECT ... but you choose not to. Why is that? Because you'd actually have to DO something?

So it feels better to sit here and say this is MURDER, this is HOMICIDE, this is WRONG ... and you can pour all your emotion into blasting and tearing down every person that doesn't agree with you ... rather than doing something PRODUCTIVE and causing change for others.

Her death does not pave the way to all sorts of horror in our country?! That's ridiculous. The Courts . including the Supreme Court of the United States of America feels that the letter of the law has been followed.

What paved the way to HELL in this country was the debacle in Florida 5 years ago when Al Gore should have been President and hundreds of thousands of people in Florida were not allowed to vote ... and Jeb Bush and Karen whats her name ... allowed that to happen.

It's been all down hill since then. Don't use THIS issue as the asphalt that paved that drive, because it just isn't true.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:38 PM

  • The Greer's of this world are an ingredient of a recipe that will allow the abuse of women to go on. Greer denied a restraining order once, and in doing so allowed a women to be stabbed to death. And now this..........

and it gets deeper and deeper and deeper ....

so it is HIS fault that she was stabbed, right? not the fault of the man who stabbed her? and really .. does a restraining order work anyway? no. most of the times, not. if you are being attacked by someone you have a restraining order against ... do you think they are actually going to stop .. while you call the police and say, "Yo, I have a restraining order here ..." the police don't sit at your house 24/7 to protect you. it's a PIECE OF PAPER.

and if he denied a restraining order once is his however many years on the bench ... then every judge in the history of the United States should be thrown off the bench .. who let another drunk driver go ... to end up killing another family ... and you could go on and on.

this stuff you all are pulling out now is complete and utter NONSENSE!!!!

    Your questions are valid...

I recall more accusations than I do questions, but hey- there are so many by anonymous, it is hard to know how is asking honest questions, and who is just being cruel.

I am going to answer your questions, only because you asked them- not because I am trying to toot my own horn- although I realize I will be accused of this anyway...

DO I care about other injustices?

I have worked as the administrator and as a distributor for the Food Bank at my Church for over a year now. Mamy times, I have been the only one to show up for distribution..

I often deliver food to the homes of people in my community once I leave after distribution.

My phone number is posted on the door of my church so that people can call me if they cannot wait until the day of distribution.

I also organized the Christmas giving for our church. My duaghters and I spent our day on Christmas Eve loading my van 3 times and delivering these gifts. (not to mention the hours of organizing, shopping and wrapping)

I have taken the youth in my community on a fishig trip-- again- it was my idea, I organized it, and drove, bought the fishing rods, food, prizes, etc...

I give FREE workshops at a local commuinity technical college on achieving Victory over Victimhood...

I have lobbied personally to my Representatives....

I have organized neighborhood meetings with our local police to aid them in keeping our neighborhoods safe.

There are other things, but yes, I have certainly been involved in community service......

There is still plenty to do...

BUT-- for those that have only now gotten involved with such due to our plight for Terri, the greatest travesty of all would be for ANY of us to not continue getting involved in the issues that matter to us....

    THANK YOU FOR YOUR QUESTIONS!

  • I am horrified by this. I saw the videos today of Terri. She is CLEARLY aware of her surroundings and CAN feel!I think Michael is no longer married to her as he moved on to be with another woman and father children with her! He should just turn over custody of Terri to her family as they so much want to take care of her! He did not even know what her wishes were. Even if he did he has lost his right to even decide for her! He is no longer married to her in my book. I think it is just awful that he could know that she is aware and allow her to die like this! I blame Michael the most in all of this. I think that Terri is still living as she DOES want to LIVE! God bless innocent Terri and her loving family.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 12:47 PM

  • anon, I will answer your questions the best that I can, from my perspective. We are on opposite sides of this so I don't expect you to accept what I say, but I still will.
There are so many issues in Terri's case. First of all, and we have been through this with you, she has a right to life and is not on life support. Life support is ventilator, ect. She can eat through her mouth but her husband has refused that opportunity. I have seen another case just like this and the husband divorced his disabled wife and gave her to a relative as a guardian. He moved on and she continues to live. Life is precious, too precious to cast aside so easily here.
As for the homeless and such, I can't speak for anyone else, but I can for my family. We regularly give money to a local homeless shelter. We help support a local clothing bank with money and items.
We help people when they are in need. We cannot help the entire world but we do what we can.
As for lifers, I have not screamed for them to die like you and others have screamed for Terri to die...and she commited no crime! I support the lifers rights to appeals and new evidence, but I do support the death penalty. I believe Dahmer, Bundy, and Scott Peterson deserve the consequences of their actions. I am glad that DNA is available, especially when it proves the person didn't do the crime.
My son served in Iraq last year and we routinely sent boxes over to him, filled with stuff for him to give to the kids. Did it end the pain there? No, but we did what WE could do.
I am able to be a voice for Terri and I choose to defend her right to life, as I would if it were you. You are as precious to me and God as the next person is.

  • My 20 year interest in what I believe to be a runaway judicial system is what drives me to this case, though I am clearly disturbed at the thought of someone being starved to death. She is not terminal, her lungs, heart, etc. work fine. Those who try to soften it by saying "allowed to die" are equally disturbing.

  • I was just passing by and read the comments. Whoever is in charge fo this blog needs to seriously take charge of their comment section by booting off people like anonymous.

After spending countless hours trying to reason with those who are against life I have come to the conclusion that no ammount of reason or logic will make any difference at all and that attempts to speak rationally with such people are a complete and total waste of time.

They will not change in their views and neither will those of us who are for life. So why bother discussing ridiculous points and questions brought up by those, like anonymous, who have absolutely no willingness to engage in reasonable discussion but who are more often than not just mocking within their hearts all views contrary to theirs?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1:15 PM

  • To anonymous:

Seriously. Why should you complain about our involvement in Terri's cause? At least we DO something! True, there are many other serious issues besides Terri Schiavo to deal with, and believe us, we ARE dealing with them as far as we are capable of. They are just as important to us as Terri is to us.

So I suggest that rather than griping and criticizing us, get your butt out of the chair and get involved in one of the issues that you think is important. Just go and DO it!

    Thank you very much.

  • If Terri wanted to die, she'd be dead by now.

I think that family spokesman did a tremendous disservice to everyone by claiming, as he did before the 18th, that it could take up to 30 days for Terri to die without water and food. Absolutely nobody in the medical field endorsed that statement.

Also please keep in mind that the "if she wanted to die she'd be dead by now" argument doesn't hold much weight with those who believe she's PVS, in which case she has no wants or desires.

  • Court Rejects Latest Plea from Schiavo Parents

"In his ruling on Saturday, Greer said the Schindlers could have presented Weller's affidavit at an emergency hearing three days ago, but did not.

The parents "waived their right to raise Terri Schiavo's alleged verbalization when they failed to present the affidavits at the March, 23, 2005, hearing," he wrote."

I'll be willing to bet if Terri were a convicted murderer on death row, that affidavit would have been allowed.

  • I cannot believe anyone feels that Terri should be kept alive with that damn feeding tube forever. I am a Registered Nurse and I am director of nursing in a nursing home. Before that I did home health visits for 14 years and 2 years in acute care before that. THIS HAPPENS EVERYDAY PEOPLE!!!!!!!
I have taken care of countless dying patients who no longer receive food or hydration, and no, they do not suffer. Dehydration causes the electrolytes to deplete which causes a euphoria. Electrolyte depletion due to bulemia was what brought Terri to this existence in the first place. Another point I need to make, I think lay people look at this from their own healthy viewpoint. She is not healthy, she has almost no upper brain left! The Schindlers coming out and saying Terri said she "wants to live" is ludicrous! How can they fabricate these ridiculous things to further confuse an already confused public.
I pray for Terri, that she passes soon, I pray her parents will somehow start the grieving process they should have so long ago.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1:37 PM

  • I saw the videos today of Terri.

What you saw was the 1.6% (literally) of the 4.5 hours of videotape that displayed Terri in a manner that supports the family's case. According to Greer, Wolfson, and the 2nd DCA (at least), the other 4hours25mins32secs worth of footage show her making the same sounds and gestures without provocation or interaction.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1:37 PM

  • anonymous, Your questions are difficult to answer since they are asked from a biased premise. You are claiming injustices where there are none.

Webesters defines "injustice" as a violation of another's rights. So let's examine your claims.

Homeless Children - There are charities galore that are willing to provide meals to the homeless. Incidentally, any parent who in homeless and does not turn over their children to a charitable institution to care for them is guilty of parental neglect. Their rights are being violated by their own parents - not by society.

Health Insurance - Health care is not a right. Aside from that any hospital in this country will treat someone who is ill regardless of their ability to pay. If one does not have health insurance through their job, then they need to make provisions to purchase it. There are millions of people who do this by working two or three jobs.

The unemployed - A job is not a right. There is nothing in our Consitution that guarantees all Americans a job. It is socialism to state otherwise.

War in Iraq - If anything their rights are being upheld - not violated. Their job is to serve in the military and to submit to their leadership. Your disagreement with a war does not constitute a violation of rights.

I think that now that there are no more action plans that are likely to work, now is the best time to talk about those issues....when the most people are involved in these blogs. After Terri's gone, I suspect the readership of these blogs will drop dramatically.

  • There's only one of me, and I can only do so much--even when it comes to Terri's case.

However, I DO care about and help out in other areas.

I'm 100% AGAINST the death penalty and believe that there are better ways to fight crime.

Although I'm not a user myself, I believe that marijuana should be legalized.

Re: abortion. My views are pretty conservative--but not unreasonably so.

If you read my blog here as well as the website I'm about to link you to, you'll find that I'm not just stuck on this one issue--but it just so happens that this is the issue that needs my attention the most at the moment.

Not only is a woman's life in danger but, also, her fate will have far-reaching effects. Don't even get me started there, because I don't have time, but I think you can figure out what I mean.

Anyway, I would invite you to visit my website. You will find lots of links there with many of them leading to places that have made (and will continue to make) a positive difference in the lives of others!

Yet another example of how Terry is an AWFUL spokesman. Just like Jeb, he has now tipped his hand and announced to the courts that something is on the move. Unbelievable.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 1:57 PM

  • Anonymous,
You are preaching to the choir. People who are involved are involved all the way around. I and my family are involved in all of these things you speak of, including adopting children in third world countries who need a variety of things.

There are people who have hearts and can pass no one by on the road. Terri is one--read the article about her on BlogsforTerri. For myself, I have prayed and supported three of my sons through Iraqi wars. I've spent years trying to protect the innocent from being killed and could have used your help in the battle. But here's where, perhaps, I differ from you and from many others who support Terri. I've been in Terri's shoes. I was married to a man who strangled me about every other day until four priests and a sheriff got me and the children out of there. I KNOW what it is like to be killed and have no power to help yourself. By the way, the sheriff gave me the money to escape, the police in one county, at least, said they would not honor the APB on me for stealing my husband's car, and an attorney found us a safe place to hide. If not for these people I would be as dead as Terri is going to be if someone like the above people don't step up to the plate for her.

Perhaps life has been too good and too easy for you that you have failed to respect and value it as you certainly would if Judge Greer set his sights on you next. Bet you'd holler louder than anyone. In any event, you are not part of any solution to any problem, but are, indeed, the very problem we seek to address. Be a good boy/girl, and go shame yourself.

  • P.S. My son, who has been in Iraq and is scheduled to go back, tells me that what never gets in the news are the hospitals, schools, etc. that we are building over there, AND the young people who are growing up now knowing that there are options besides tyrannical dictators. We give these people hope and an alternative to hell on earth.

And DON'T forget that we are fighting for your life, too, so that you never have to go through what Terri is suffering today.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 2:04 PM

  • I feel it is absolutely disgusting that this poor girl is being used as a pawn whilst your corrupt court system or rather certain people residing on it repeatedly refuse to consider any new evidence that has been submitted and then disallowed. Everything that this decision is based on is heresay and that should not even be admissable in court especially if it comes from her so called loving husband and his family who by the way made no mention of this when Terri met with her tragic "accident", in the first place. Look at the Bone Scan report. Why the hell wasn't her husband investigated then. It just doesn't make sense. You have evidence from certain peoples affidavits as to what he said to them yet their statements were dismissed. Evidence has come up which questions severely the motives of her so called husband yet nothing has been done. I could go on citing situations where nothing has been done. WHY? I am at a loss to understand this. What happens after. will an enquiry be allowed with all the facts. Will her husband be investigated and regarding the fact of a quick cremation should the poor girl die. Can that be stopped as to me that should raise suspicion in itself. The truth will come out for all this and I hope you have the courage to put the blame where it lies and deal with the perpetrator. I am not American and I thank God that I am not as I would be ashamed at the injustices that have gone on in this case. May God have mercy on you All.

    By curmudgeon

You said it, not me ... and the reason I didn't have your name on the open letter in the first place.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 2:20 PM

  • Mostly everyone who's passionate about this has looked at all the same facts (and myths) and people come to differing conclusions about who's righteous and who's just stubborn.

My opinion is that there's just too much wild speculation and myth for anyone not intimately involved to make an objective decision.
For nearly every 'fact' there's a reported counterfact and everyone swears theirs is the truth.

The videos are touching, but not recent and only represent a mere fragment.

Michael is in it for the money and has his own agenda.
But the Schindlers have received million(s) of dollars, a large amount of which came from lobby and special interest groups who I have no doubt do so to push their own agenda without regard for Terri's plight.

Michael is an adulterer and lives with a woman who he has two children with.
Then I read in a paper that Terri's parents suggested to him that he should start dating and move on years ago.

Michael 'conveniently' forgets his wife told him she wouldn't want to live like this until the settlement suit is over with.
Terri's parents testify that Terri said "I want to live" but wait 7 days after the tube gets disconnected to bring it up.

Terri was a faithful catholic and wouldn't have wanted to die and never told her parents otherwise.
Terri was considering filing for a divorce but was too afraid to tell her parents because under their faith, divorce is not acceptable. Conjecture but, saying she'd rather die than live in such a case would have been equally hard or harder to bring up.

There's an outcry when children get arrested for trying to bring Terri water. It's not a pleasant thing, I wholeheartedly agree.
But what about the parents who urged their children to do so, knowing their children would get arrested on national television? Using your child as a pawn for attention to your plight is just plain and simply wrong.

I'm not pro-Michael or pro-Schindler in any way because there is just too much conflicting information floating around.

I wish I knew which facts to believe and which not, but I don't so I'm left somewhere in the middle, leaning left or right with every new bit of information I gather.
In the end, the fact that noone will ever truely know which is which and that Terri's life will be either prolonged against her wish, or snuffed while being merely disabled and not PVS makes me sad beyond words.
Noone wins here, there's only loss.

  • she has a right to life and is not on life support.

That is an incorrect statement. She cannot swallow, therefore she cannot eat.

Ever since the New Jersey Supreme Court allowed a respirator to be removed from Karen Ann Quinlan and the U.S. Supreme Court declared that feeding tubes are medical treatments just like respirators, heart-lung machines, dialysis and antibiotics, it has been crystal clear in U.S. law and medical ethics that those who cannot speak can have their feeding tubes stopped.

I do support the death penalty.

You can not be "pro-life" and support the death penalty. That makes you a hypocrite (but then again with you, I've been saying that all along.) You do know that Jeffrey Dahmer became am born-again, saved, believer in Christ, right, in prison, before he was killed? He's right up there in heaven right now ... so maybe IF you get there you'll get to hang out with him.

It is safe to assume that these same people would be screaming their heads off, if any mention was ever made to allow a husband a say in the case of abortion.

Seriously. Why should you complain about our involvement in Terri's cause? At least we DO something!

Just what is it you're doing? Made it almost impossible for anyone who happens to have a family member at that hospice to get in and see their loved ones?

I'm sure you heard the story yesterday that an elderly gentleman was dying and they called his grand daughter to get there as quickly as possible. With all the security she had to go through to get into the hospice, by the time she got there he had already passed. His ONE plea for her was "don't let me die alone."

So you don't care about all the other people you're hurting, right?

  • Incidentally, any parent who in homeless and does not turn over their children to a charitable institution to care for them is guilty of parental neglect. Their rights are being violated by their own parents - not by society.

So you're saying the family that has two kids and a stay-at home mom, the husband loses his job and can't find another job because he's "over qualified" because he's been in his field for 15 years ... and they could pay someone w/ 5 years experience less money .. can't make their bills and they lose their house. They are now HOMELESS. They should give up their kids?

Aside from that any hospital in this country will treat someone who is ill regardless of their ability to pay. If one does not have health insurance through their job, then they need to make provisions to purchase it. There are millions of people who do this by working two or three jobs.

Do you know that Charity Hospitals have the most agressive froms of bill collections than any other? Just because you can't pay "today" doesn't mean you don't have to pay EVER and they make your life a living hell in the process.

And that is the point ... who should have to work 3 jobs to be able to afford to go to the doctor when they have a sore throat?

You're an ignorant, selfish human being. I feel sorry for you.

  • verything that this decision is based on is heresay and that should not even be admissable in court.

It's great when people use the term hearsay (even when spelled incorrectly) in relation to this case. It's an immediate tip off that they don't know the legal system and are probably just reacting rather than thinking.

Hearsay is when someone testifies they know about something someone did (or said) indirectly, i.e. without firsthand knowledge

If Michael testified as to what Terri said to him, that is direct evidence. If Michael simply told his relatives what Terri said, the relatives' testimony would be hearsay. But the relatives heard it directly from Terri, so it's not hearsay.

LOL it's not hearsay when the Judge hears it from someone who heard it from Terri.

Thank you for your well thought out and comprehensive response. I appreciate that you even gave thought to it ...

I plan to re-read it further, later, and comment to you more specifically, but I do want just address one point ...

Homelessness is an injustice. Not everyone who IS homeless caused their own situation. I think it's rare that someone chooses to be homless. I do understand the problem because I work for a non-profit agency that helps the homeless.

    I appreciate your thoughts.

I have to say-- I usually shy away form too many questions- just because I feel like my actual post is MY turn and then I just let ya'll have yours.

But you are asking some great questions... I actually plan on addressing so many of these thigs once Terri is safe. I believe this issue should be used for everyone passionate on both sides- to continue being passionate. It has been a GREAT lesson for me. People say I am teaching others and keeping others informed-- maybe- but I am learning far more than I am teaching. I am receiving FAR more than I am giving.

THe same goes with community service....

how much do you think you could really change .. if you put as much passion as you have into this matter .. into those more local matters. Do you not think the impact could be significant?

    GREAT QUESTION!

Yes. The tricky part is knowing where to put my efforts, in order to truly have an impact.

Friends always ask me what's next? I say "If you would have asked me that 6 months ago- I would have never told you I would be here."

what I mean by that is, I am not sure. I believe I will know when the time comes. Yes I can have an impact and I know I already have...

Have you ever heard the stroy of the little girl on the beach throwing starfish into the ocean?

The beach is COVERED with starfish. They are dying in the sun and out of the water. She is grabbing them one by one and flinging them back into the water. A man walks up (not sure if he is a liberal or a conservative-LOL!) and asks, "what are you doing?"

She says, "I'm saving the starfish."

He says, "But there are so many, what makes you think you can make a difference?"

She smiles and says, "It just made a difference to that one...."

  • A hearsay statement is any statement made outside of the court proceeding, and it is usually NOT admissible as evidence because it can't be challenged by cross-examination on the stand. Its reliability can't be tested, except if the person who actually said it shows up to testify. Unfortunately FL law allows for hearsay in the case of incapacitated person.

  • Perhaps life has been too good and too easy for you

hmm .. I'm wondering if I should even attempt to answer this question. I will just share a few tidbits and then you can make your own assessment:

Was severely emotionally, physically and sexually abused as a child, beginning at the hands of my Mother. The sexual abuse came later from my brother.

I have been raped and assaulted, broken bones, broken ribs, face scared for life, and have other lasting memories of that day.

I have gone without the basic essentials of life: food, water and shelter for extended periods of time due to lay offs from jobs, etc.

I have lost everything I worked for myself (house, car, furniture, etc) and am on the road to trying to rebuild.

Perhaps life has been too good and too easy for you ... if I couldn't laugh at the absurdity of that statement, I'd probably cry.

I KNOW what it is like to be killed..

    Do you? Were you ressurected?

PLEASE ASK OUR HEAVENLY FATHER AND LORD JESUS TO INTERVENE NOW AND REVERSE THE INCREDIBLE INJUSTICE. I CAN THINK OF DOZENS OF SCRIPTURAL ACCOUNTS WHERE HE HAS DONE THIS.

FATHER, YOU HAVE NOT MISSED A SINGLE PART OF THIS SITUATION. YOU HAVE BEEN WATCHING OUR HEARTS AND YOU HAVE SEEN THEM CHANGE THROUGH THE FIRE. MY HEART IS BROKEN BEFORE YOU, I HAVE RESPONDED INCORRECTLY AND MURDEROUSLY AGAINST THE PERPETRATORS OF THIS HEARTLESS MISDEED. I AM GUILTY OF THE SAME THINGS...

MY HEART IS CHANGED, AND I AM APPEALING TO YOU FATHER TO HAVE MERCY ON ALL OF US. FROM TERRI, TO MICHAEL! FROM ME TO GREER, TO BUSH AND HIS BROTHER. TERRI'S PARENTS AND FAMILY AND ALL THE EMOTIONALLY DRAINED SUPPORTERS, ESPECIALLY ANY OF THOSE WHO FEEL COMPELLED TO STEP IN AND RESCUE TERRI.

PLEASE WORK A MIRACLE AND EXPOSE SATAN AND ALL HIS FORCES. SET ALL SATANS SERVANTS FREE FROM THE BONDAGE OF SERVICE TO HIMSELF AND HIS AGENDA TO STEAL, KILL, AND DESTROY AND DELIVER THEM TO REPENTANCE AND GLORIOUS SERVICE TO YOUR SON, THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

I encourage everyone who reads this to take a moment and ask our Soverign King and Lord to forgive us and to intervene with a miracle, for his honor and glory and for our relief.

Bob Schindler: "Just in to see Terri...she's doing remarkably well under the circumstances...she's showing signs of starvation and lack of hydration. She is fighting like h___ to stay alive. And I want the powers that be to know that....anybody that has the authority to come in and save Terri to do it...it's not too late......"
We have come to the end of resources, we have come to the end of our strength. But we are just now coming into the right condition to have power with God. This is the only way our Nation will ever be restored, and it is time for us to understand and humble ourselves and pray, and let God take control.

JOEL 2:12 Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
14 Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; ... 15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly:
16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.
17 Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?
18 Then will the LORD be jealous for his land, and pity his people.
19 Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen....
21 Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great things.

To Anonymous 162 - Being Prolife and believing in the death penalty do not conflict. A fetus and a brain injured or terminally ill person are not guilty of a crime. God set up death as punishment for crime in the old Testament - look at Leviticus.

But you all are spouting .. THOU SHALT NOT MURDER, aren't you? Now you are saying God said, THOU SHALT NOT MURDER, except here and here and here and here.

  • Anonymous,

I am also an incest survivor and I also used to be a very angry person. As a Catholic I would wonder how I could take the sins of these other people against me to confession so I could get healing. (Stop here and laugh a lot.) Then one day I got the bright, if not original, idea of taking my own sins to the confessional and after about a thousand trips I finally got the healing I wanted. The hate and anger rolled off me like a rock and I actually felt physically lighter.

If you want this healing for yourself, go for it and keep going and don't let anything stop you. As it takes time to get in this condition, it takes time to get out of it. Hint, the healing of memories, when you get that, feels like a reliving of memories. Just keep in mind that you don't want to think, feel this way and when it is over you won't. It's just that memories come out the same way they went in.
I will pray especially hard for you as I do for Terri, for it is now obvious to me that you also lay on a great bed of pain as she does. I apologize for jumping your case and remember now (finally) that Jesus said not to judge. So sorry, Child. God's great blessings on you.

  • My two cents worth. First of all everyone should think about establishing a living will. No one need to go through this agaony. When I first got involved with this story by watching the media I was 100% in favor of letting Terri go that is let her die with dignity. My feelings have changed however after reading more and more facts on the subject. I just heard that no brain scan has been done on terri since 1995. Also heard that there were problems with her medical treatment. Is all this true? If so how can anyone be sure that Terri is really "Gone". Other things seem to bother me. I am starting to think that her Husband wants to get her out of the picture because of his other family. I hate to think that way. I actually supported him but that was before. Why can't he give up guardianship to Terri's parents? If they want to take care of her like that let them. Who will lose? No one. Terri needs to get out of the media. She is a good person who doesnt have to go through this. Seems that this is turning out to be a media thing betweeen Michael and his In-laws. It also is on the boarderline of murder. I have to respect life if there is any doubt that a person is still alive or has a chance to recover. Terri is one of those people. Let her live...respect life.

  • Sorry, this isn't borderline murder, it's the real thing. From my experience with a man just like MS it's an ego thing. Where Terri went wrong was in letting him know she was leaving him. These men can't allow anyone to reject them. He won't give her over to her parents because he owns her as he owned her cats. Rather than let anyone have them (his property) he killed them. Ditto with Terri. Judge Greer seems to be of the same ilk--at least I can think of no other reason for his obstinate insistence on Terri's death.

What I really, really can't understand is why everyone is letting greer play "almighty god" and not calling him on it. No one, but no one, has the power to kill in broad public unless they are allowed that power. Why is he being allowed?????

  • Hi - I'm the one behind Liberals for Terri. Get the word out to ANYONE who can hook all this up!

Here's the problem: everyone in Big Media dismisses Barbara Weller's affadavit as a "publicity stunt" and the few nurses who have come out. HERE's what we gotta do & do it quick:

    1. The $10 Million Dollar Challenge - there are nurses at the hospice who want to flip & testify for Terri and against Schiavo but they can't for fear they might get fired. Let's get some money & backing arranged for them NOW & get them on board SOON like in the next few hrs. (Where are all those offering to bribe Michael - can we get them involved?) Forcing Big Media to acknowledge everything will change a LOT of minds QUICKLY, and the anti-Terri pressure may invert.

    2. Ditto about Barbara Weller - If Barbara announces she's willing to take a POLYGRAPH saying her statement was true - and then challenges Michael Schiavo to do the SAME (!) about HIS lies - plus all the nurses at the hospice turning against the hospice board - THAT'S news. Sure Judge Greer didn't challenge Barbara on her "veracity" but the whole mainstream media did & still is.

If ABC & CBS HAVE to report this as news (which they would if she did this - ditto w/the nurses - a 1-2 punch), they would no longer be able to dismiss what she said as a "publicity stunt". That would be EXCELLENT media coverage, agreed?

Even if she didn't challenge Michael, it would be enough (though why not go all the way for heaven's sake - that + the nurses' willingness to flip).

    3. I'm about to post an an article in the next 1-3 hrs. (as soon as I can get it all finished) calling the CT Scan - the entire basis for this hoopla - into question.

Thanks - I'll be spraying this so you may see it a couple of places

  • I just have a few things to say to mr./ms. "anonymous" anyway I picked out two of your so called injustices that we should be fired up about instead of Terri Shiavo.... or at least as much as Terri Shiavo.... the first was those who do not have health insurance.... you say that we need to be just as fired up for their cause because they cannot receive adequate health care because obviously they do not have health insurance.... This argument is flawed for a number of reasons. This country does not refuse anyone health care whether insured or uninsured. There are laws stating that anyone who comes to the ER must be given treatment whether they are covered or not... Secondly take one look at Great Britain or Canada and you will see why we have the health care system that we do in this country..... ok second is your question about death row inmates.... our judicial system goes above and beyone to be sure that each person who is on death row is guilty and not innocent.... how many years are people on death row? far to many in my opinion. second with the use of DNA testing the actual instances of "innocent" people being on death row as significaly decreased.... I care about all of these social injustices but just as belgianbabe stated what is going on with Terri could set the standard for atrocities such as the killing of all who were disabled as in the days of Hitler.... if you dont believe this do you think the people of germany did? No.... they were as naive and blind as you are..... open your eyes my friend .... since abortion on demand began in the 70's we have opened ourselves up to physician assisted suicide, infanticide, and now the murder of those who cannot even raise their voice to consent or not to.... may God have mercy on our country ....

  • I have been reading the comments with interest. As an Australian observer I probably have no right to make a comment if this was truly a family matter.

However, Terri's case ceased being a family matter when Michael Schiavo launched his compensation case claiming malpractice.

I have been observing and reading the facts on this case. I am not convinced with the arguments that Terri is PVS. The disparaging of the video clips is just a ploy by those who are so desparate to kill this woman.

There are many things that are sticking out, and decent minded people do need to consider these things to come to their own conclusions. It is not appropriate to project one's own desire not to be attached to a feeding tube in this case. It is not appropriate to accept hearsay evidence from a husband who wants to murder his wife.

The narrow issue in this case is whether or not Theresa Schindler made her husband swear that she would not live attached to machinery. The evidence provided was tainted and yes it is hearsay evidence because they are repeating what Terri was alleged to have said, yet they are being inconsistent about when and how the statements were allegedly made.

However, there are wider issues that need to be considered:

    1. Medical Fraud
    2. Attempted strangulation never investigated.
    3. Perversion of justice through the deliberate stymieing of criminal investigation.
    4. Perjury
    5. Persistent wife abuse in a very cruel fashion including the denial of rehabilitation, and an attempt to deny medical treatment.
    6. Stalking
    7. the power that a court appointed guardian is given over an incapacitated ward.
    8. the denial of the rights of the disabled by treating them as if they are non-human.

I have not at this point mentioned the claim that Terri is dead and that she should be allowed to let go, because I do consider such comments to be entirely ignorant when it comes to the facts of this case.

I have also not mentioned in any detail the collusion between Greer and Felos in this case. I do believe that donations to the judge's election campaign is entirely suspicious in the circumstances produced by this case.

Also, this case is not that of a woman who has been pronounced brain dead and attached to a breathing machine. It is a case that even has the Dutch and the Germans reeling in horror at the decision to starve and dehydrate this woman to death.

There is nothing ethical about the decisions that have been made. I do not consider Dr. Death Cranford as ethical since he is working to his agenda of bringing in judicially accepted euthanasia over and above the wishes of the patient.

Every ethical rule has been broken in the medical as well as the legal fields. This case is a minefield and it is waiting to cause a very big explosion.

Attempting to bring up those other issues such as the starving is nothing more than a furphy since this is a case where someone is attempting to murder his wife with the blessing of the judicial system.

No one should allow themselves to be misled by the Felos/Schiavo propaganda in this case. Terri is not PVS. She is alive and she is cognizant.

A crime is being committed in order to cover up other crimes.

  • I think you are all morons.

Need some proof? Be happy to give you some!

    Let us do some digging!

"If Terri wanted to die, she'd be dead by now."

    - Not really, when you are in a vegetation state you can't really do any thing to speed up or slow down what ever process occures then.

"SHUT UP... you and your views do not exist as far as I am concerned....and yes, I am just a moron so don't try and reason with me. I'll only become increasingly violent. No, that's not a threat. It's a statment of fact as I am a moron and by definition unable to control my "feelings"

    - OH SNAP! Denial! If that isn't a kindergarten style rebuttal, I don't know what is. Serously, becoming "More violent" to a person that you don't know, is kinda stupid.

"I am horrified by this. God bless innocent Terri and her loving family."

-So ending a 15 year life of vegitaion makes him a ass? Trying to upbring a child where he has both a mother and father, is bad? Blaming a innocent man is plain stupid.

"Hitler is alive and well and Living in FLA! I am Ashamed and Fearful for my country! MAY JESUS BE THE BREAD AND WATER THAT KEEPS TERRI ALIVE! KC"

    - OH SHIT! A 115 year old man is gonna kick your ass! Serously, go do something productive then bringing up nothing to do with the issue.

"I am 24 years old and I just wanted to say I am soooo mad that this is even a discussion, she is not on life support its a feeding tube. No one seems to care about how her or her family. We believe that her husband will get away with murder. If the American people have problems trying to make a decision about whether she lives or dies bring her to Canada we open our hearts, doors and money to help them. The President of the United States made a decision 3 years ago to send troops men and women to Iraq to kill people in the war and now that he wants to save a life he doesnt have the power. Does that make sense to you?? AMERICANS WAKE UP AND REALISE THAT EVERY LIFE IS PRECIOUS!!!!!"

    - There is about 2 cm from the shift key to the caps lock key, try turning it off next time. Moving her might be a bad idea, accidents might happen.

"Being Prolife and believing in the death penalty do not conflict. A fetus and a brain injured or terminally ill person are not guilty of a crime. God set up death as punishment for crime in the old Testament - look at Leviticus."

    - I don't see how this suddenly brings up biblical refrences. Really, every thing that get hit by the media and someone doesn't like it, they immediatly bring up the bible, and hide behind it. Its sad.

"The beach is COVERED with starfish.

    One Starfish at a Time!"

-Diffrence is that you CAN'T solve brain damage that easily, its not a scratch, its your brain making it perminent, according to current medical science.

"I AM 34 YEARS OLD AND ALL MY LIFE I HAVE BEEN TOLD. GOD WILL BE THE ONLY ONE TO JUDGE YOU. WELL HOW CAN JUDGES, BUSH AND MAINLY HER HUSBAND JUDGE WHAT HAPPENS TO HER. HER MOM AND DAD WANTS TO BE THE ONE WHO TAKES CARE OF HER SO LET THEM. AND NOT ONLY THAT WE GOT MURDERS WHO HAVE BEEN PUT ON LIFE SUPPORT THAT COSTS MILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND THIS IS A FEEDING TUBE SOMETHING THAT CAN HELP KEEP HER ALIVE. SO WHATS THE BIG DEAL. EVERYONE SAYS WE LIVE IN A FREE WORLD.WHATS SO FREE ABOUT IT. WE GOT PEOPLE MAKING DECISIONS IF WE LIVE OR DIE. THIS LADY IS RESPONDING TO LIFE. THE ONES WHO MADE THIS DECISION. "YOU ARE MURDERS"

    - The caps lock button is not ment for this type of abuse! I challenge you to find me a criminal that has been on life support, for longer then 10 years. Usually people on life support have some sort of reaction not just bio-electric feedback.

In closing, before you call all who appose the tube "Nazi's" or "Gay" or "Left-wing", ask you self, after being on a tube for 15 years and not doing a single movement for that long,(not including spasms), would you like to live like that?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 8:41 PM

  • I really agree with Madge's #8 ... a fundamental problem (ie. Terri's crime) is not that she is disabled but (thru others) is claiming to be human. About 2000 years ago, a man was killed for claiming to be divine. It seems that we humans still think that the 'solution' to our differences is death - someone else's.

  • Maggie,

You are right on. Some other things have come to my mind about this situation. I've had enough legal training and experience to know that the judicial system is not about justice, right or wrong, good or evil. It's really a big game and the best player wins. For this reason, I believe Judge Whitemore dealt compassionately in his decision. It would have been too cruel to bring Terri back from the brink of death and then turn around and do it all over again because the Schindler attorney is not the better player.

Another thing about the attempted rescue this morning, is that the sheriff really is the top law enforcement in his county. That means that no one, but no one, can enter his county and do anything without his permission. However I didn't read that the sheriff was in on this; I only read that the police stood them off. The beauty of all of this is that a lot of people have wanted their sheriff to protect them from a lot of federal enforcement people, but for the vastly greater part, sheriffs won't do it. Here now when a citizen needs saving it is the feds who are trying and the sheriff, or at least local law, who are stopping them. Twilight zone!

And, Margie, this is your concern because what people get away with here they will at least try to get away with there. The people of this world, and especially this country are being tested and how awful it will be if we fail the test.

  • Every Republican should pay for this! Judge Greer is a Republican too!

But it won't happen. Can you imagine the fundies that support this in bed with Democrats? Why that would be like Rush Limbaugh supporting the ACLU! Oh no, bad example, he DOES support them now that he's a junkie and doesn't want his medical records released.

Terri Schiavo is for all practical purposes Michigan J Frog. She can sing and dance and do all kinds of stuff around her family but nothing around doctors. (Hello my baby, hello my honey, hello my rag time gal...)

This is man interfering in God calling her home if you MUST have a religious angle on this.

Where is your outrage over the death of innocent Americans in a discredited war ? (WMD anyone? Terrorist connection? No? That's what I thought)

So many dead young men and women who actually could contribute to society and weren't animated pieces of meat.. you should all be ashamed.

When all of you fundies are standing before your maker he's gonna be very disappointed and probably punish you severely for having such out of whack, and extraordinarily hypocritical, priorities.

Most Americans do not agree with Congress stepping in, proof positive that Republicans are out of the mainstream.

Rest in peace Terri. This should have happened LONG ago. God will get his vengeance on Jeb Bush and the rest of the right wing nut jobs (most probably you dear reader).

  • O.K., Eclipse, what's eating you? Something is offending you other than capslock.

FYI: people who want to die don't take much killing. Often they just turn their face to the wall and give up.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 8:57 PM

  • So she wants do die? And because of that she isn't doing any thing?
If she was such a good person, don't you think she would move? Or give some indication that she is still living mentally, instead of causing all this greif to everyone.?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:04 PM

  • Eclipse,

Who said she wanted to die; who said she doesn't do anything????

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:14 PM

  • My bad, bio-electric feedback that causes slight shakes to verious body parts still counts. She still shouldn't have to suffer.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:31 PM

  • Eclipse,

Your comment is apropos of what?

You make statements out of the blue; you answer questions with more statements out of the blue--actually the wild blue yonder.

    What's eating you????

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:41 PM

  • Whats eating me is morons that can't see that, a friggin tube don't justyly some one sitting in a hospital bead for 15 years doing nothing but suffering and then complain how her husband is wrong is what he is doing!

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 9:59 PM

  • Eclipse,

Lier. That has nothing to do with you. Come back when you have an honest statement to make.

    Just ask for m.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:24 PM

  • Then give the police no option than to back down. Send in the National Guard and Federal Marshalls then there will be no standoff. I want to know who appointed judges as God?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 10:45 PM

  • Most Americans are not aware of the questions of the facts of the case. The question was posed in a biased format. Main Stream Media is the one killing Terri.

  • You heard it here first. Just want to say that I am now against the death penalty and this is my reason. I have thought about it for a long time and just do not feel like I used to. Also, if the only way we can get compromise is to say life all the time, I think we should choose life on both fronts. It is too easy to be called hypocritical otherwise; and saving a life where you are so intent to is better even if you do not completely agree that someone should get life instead of death for crime. If they have no chance for parole then let's go with that.

  • Make It Happen - Let Terri Live - She has Fought To

Please, whoever you are, if it is within your ability & power to, try to save Terri. At one time or other, we have experienced sadness or pain when losing something we love or value. Imagine the pain of wilting away and not being able to speak up for your life. Wait no more - time waits for no man, & certainly not for Terri - GIVE TERRI HER LIFE BACK, NOW. If all Terri needed then to keep alive was something as simple as a feeding tube & her family love, why deprive her of something so simple yet important? Nobody should decide for Terri whether she wants to die. By the fact that she has stayed alive all this while, she has chosen to live. Who can decide for someone else that his/her quality of life has deteriorated to a point when he/she is better off dead? Nobody. We are all entitled to our views, but we have no right to decide for Terri. Life is about hope, who knows what may happen tomorrow, with medical advancement that may one day help others in a similar plight, will this decision by others to starve Terri to death leave regret for the people who love her or sadden people like me who feel for her ? Will it bring tears once again to the eyes of people who remember her & how she was deprived of such hope? Will someone say "if only this cure was available then" or "if only Terri is alive". It will be too late for regrets, & it will be irreversible. Yes, on the other hand, Terri may well live the rest of her life in this semi-responsive/unresponsive state, or she may not live as long as we hope for, but IT IS BETTER TO HAVE LIVED AND TRIED THAN TO REGRET NOT TRYING. If only you will save Terri. The rest can speak for itself.

And, please reach into your heart & remember that this is a beautiful, fragile life we're talking about here, not whether the judicial deadlines are met to prove that she wanted to live. There is no compelling evidence that she wants to die. So, why lead Terri to die? Feed her so she may choose.
