Senator KING ON THE RUN!!!

I forgot to tell you about this. A group of us were in the Senate building this morning, paying a personal visit to the offices of each of those nine that might change their minds. Sen. King saw us coming (the fierce and frightening mob of 6 adults and 3 small boys) and practically ran down the hall, around the corner, and down another hall to escape us. We were in hot pursuit! One of the women in our group called out, "You won't be king for long, Senator King!" LOL We let him get away, though. There was no point in chasing him far.

All told, it was pretty discouraging this morning. We were either turned away by staffers or were told that our message would be passed on. :-(

Here's the deal with the senators: the ones that are refusing to vote yes are bothered by some of the language in the bill. They (particularly Bullard and Campbell) have stated that they will not support it as it is now. But to change it would require a 2/3 majority in both House and Senate, and we all know that Terri would be long dead by the time it makes its way through all the committees! So we are stuck with the current bill. So somebody needs to have a change of heart. Three somebodies, that is. We are wondering why they can't just do this in order to save Terri now, and then pass an amendment in the next couple of weeks to fix the language issues! (BTW, this info all came from our meeting with Randall tonight.)

Tomorrow morning, our unified message will be "Have Mercy On Terri!" All the signs will say that, and that's all we'll be saying as we stand in strategic places, particularly in the hallway by the Senate Chamber. They meet from 9-12. We're also going to tape little signs to all the doors in all the restrooms. And Henrik and I (plus 3 boys) will start out early by standing in front of the Governor's Mansion. We want to catch him on his way to work.

Guess I'd better get some sleep now if we're going to get up that early.
