Senator KING ON THE RUN!!!

THIS JUST IN!

AN ON THE SCENE REPORT FROM Laura at MY THREE SONS!

She JUST EMAILED ME THIS!

Sherri,

I forgot to tell you about this. A group of us were in the Senate building this morning, paying a personal visit to the offices of each of those nine that might change their minds. Sen. King saw us coming (the fierce and frightening mob of 6 adults and 3 small boys) and practically ran down the hall, around the corner, and down another hall to escape us. We were in hot pursuit! One of the women in our group called out, "You won't be king for long, Senator King!" LOL We let him get away, though. There was no point in chasing him far.

All told, it was pretty discouraging this morning. We were either turned away by staffers or were told that our message would be passed on. :-(

Here's the deal with the senators: the ones that are refusing to vote yes are bothered by some of the language in the bill. They (particularly Bullard and Campbell) have stated that they will not support it as it is now. But to change it would require a 2/3 majority in both House and Senate, and we all know that Terri would be long dead by the time it makes its way through all the committees! So we are stuck with the current bill. So somebody needs to have a change of heart. Three somebodies, that is. We are wondering why they can't just do this in order to save Terri now, and then pass an amendment in the next couple of weeks to fix the language issues! (BTW, this info all came from our meeting with Randall tonight.)

Tomorrow morning, our unified message will be "Have Mercy On Terri!" All the signs will say that, and that's all we'll be saying as we stand in strategic places, particularly in the hallway by the Senate Chamber. They meet from 9-12. We're also going to tape little signs to all the doors in all the restrooms. And Henrik and I (plus 3 boys) will start out early by standing in front of the Governor's Mansion. We want to catch him on his way to work.

Guess I'd better get some sleep now if we're going to get up that early.
Please do pray for us!

Thanks!
Laura

  • beautiful belgian babe,
As hard as it may be to understand in this time of angst, something good is happening. The Lord has seen fit to energize many people in His cause of righteousness. I am finding our society splitting ever more each day. Into two camps: Those who treasure life and those who do not. I honestly believe it is just that simple.

  • Really, nothing good is happening. From a faith based perspective I can see your point, but from a purely governmental and legal perspective. I doubt very much good will come of this whole fiasco.

I am not sure it is just that simple. I feel that I treasure life, but I also believe that people have choices. There is only one person that knows for certain whether Terry Schiavo wanted to remain in this state or pass on and that is Terry Schiavo herself. That being said, I feel uncomfortable with both her parents and husband playing tug of war with her life. However, I feel more uncomfortable with Congress taking the actions that they took. They are treading dangerous grounds here on many constitutional fronts. It is not my place to say what should happen to Terry Schiavo. It is also not the place of the government, right to lifers, those that believe people can choose when to die. This was a private matter being dealt with through proper jurisprudence and now it is a three headed beast.

  • RWNJ, You may be right. It's the idea that things often get the bleakest right before God acts. I hope it's the case here. Another thing that comes to mind is the parable of the unjust judge and the woman who wouldn't let up on pleading for justice until he granted it to her just to get her off his back.

I'm also thinking about the story in Acts about two angels rescuing Peter from prison.

God knows what is going on and He is good. That's all I know for sure.

  • MPH, I respect your view, but I disagree. I believe that Terri Schiavo, and any person condemned to death has a Constituttional right to Habeas Corpus. Judge George Greer has usurped the Constitution and unilaterally denied Terri her God- given rights.
We do not have a determination of what state Terri is in, because George Greer, George Felos, and Michael Schiavo have conspired to preclude that knowledge from seeing the light of day. Each has his own reason, but none are good.

    CHOICE?

I AGREE THAT TERI HAS A CHOICE!

Have you read the history of this case?

There is NO proof that Terri would choose to die. NONE! ZIPPO NADDA!

    There is "heresay." THAT'S IT!

Not to mention that they "heresay" testimony came AFTER the SAME PERSON sued for money to CARE FOR TERRI FOR THE NEXT 50 YEARS!

He swore he would take care of her... then when he didn't get the $16 MILLION he wanted- he changed his mind....

Then he didn't use what money he DID get to HELP TERRI!

"Clear and convincing evidence" to Judge Greer is nothing more than Michaels "false but accurate" claims.... I believe it to be true- have no evidence, os I'll just MAKE IT UP! CREATE THE EVIDENCE I need to prove what I THINK TO BE TRUE....

We don't KILL people on these flinsy terms......
